SMEAC (used to brief personnel under your command)
Situation: explain the current situation. What is the nature of the incident, hazards, how is it likely to develop, what is under threat, what resources do you have? Mission: explain the overall role or job you and your crew are to carry out. What are your objectives? Execution: explain how the objectives will be achieved. What are your strategies and tactics? What is the timing for each action? Give any precautions needed. Assistance/admin: explain what support is being provided, such as water and fuel, food, supplies, etc. Command and control: explain how the incident will be organised, who is in charge, what channel should be used, etc. Safety: explain how incident specific safety issues will be addressed and assign a lookout or Safety Advisor, if necessary. ITASC (used to brief personnel who are commanding you, e.g. dispatch) Incident: type of incident – bush, grass, structure, other? Address and what is it doing? Future location – what will it impact when? Threats: hat is under threat? – people, property, environment? Future threats – what and when? Action: what do we need to do now – offensive, defensive or safeguarding? uture action – what, where and when, offensive, defensive or safeguarding? Support: what is needed now – emergency warnings, reinforcements or supplies (how much where and when needed)? Future support, what will be needed, where and when? Command/control/comms: ICS (Incident Control Systems). Who is in control – do we need divisions or sectors? Which channels are to be used for tactical and command networks? |
